thoughts
it's amazing what lung capacity a rooster has. never fails 3 a.m. rain or cold weather they go off either in unision, or one right after the other. the girls are at the tail end of molting so we will have eggs a plenty for the holidays if the young'ns start laying. patience is not something easy for a chicken farmer thats for sure

Oops
Oops, well I have learned that when counting your chicken have help! My family helped recount our chickens and we have 61 not 60 :}. Some how we kept missing one when counting earlier. I've also learned if your stressed just sit in with them and watch them play, just watch out for mini dust clouds when they shake after dirt baths. Some will become friendly while other will remain skittish, play with them using vegetables as a treat for playing with you. Then when you walk out to visit them they will all love you.

It is funny how when you let the new chicks run with their mom's and sibblings, how the pecking order changes almost daily. When making roosting perches or houses you need to keep in mind of their growth potentical!! But oh the eggs they will give in return are worth a few headaches, they each develop their own personality,so when naming them make sure you consider that...
