Harvesting Meat

Well we finally were able to harvest 7 of 11 roosters for their meat. We started prepping  at 8 a.m. and finally cleaned up about 3p.m.,this time  we plucked the roo's so we could keep the skin on the meat. And NO it hasn't turned me off chicken, in fact I want to eat eggs and farm fresh chicken more. One of the surviving boys is siring a new batch of eggs for a friend's daughter. we have another boy in with the other girl's to play. I do know one thing for sure it's alot quieter with 7 roo's gone. :)

monday had to amputate one of the hens ( bouncer) toe had swollen as big around as fifty cent piece. It was a success, will wath and care for sight for next two weeks. She gets visitation with other hens so theres no pecking fights when shes able to return to main coop/run.Love my chickens almost as much as my kids but my kids still win by a very long long shot.                                                                                   this is chickens for the week
